I have a DVA Gold Card, am I eligible for NDIS?

Having a DVA Gold Card does not automatically make you eligible for the NDIS. The DVA Gold Card provides health care benefits for veterans related to service-related injuries or illnesses, while the NDIS is specifically for people with permanent and significant disabilities. You may be eligible for both, depending on your disability and health conditions.

What is the difference between NDIS & DVA Gold Card supports?

The DVA Gold Card provides health care and services related to service-related injuries or illnesses. It covers medical expenses, hospital care, and treatment for these specific conditions. On the other hand, the NDIS supports people with permanent and significant impairment/disabilities, regardless of whether the impairment/disability is service-related or not. The NDIS helps fund supports like personal care, support coordination, and assistance with daily living tasks.

No, the DVA Gold Card is for health care specific to service-related injuries or illnesses. NDIS funding is separate and can be used for services related to impairment/disability support, such as personal care, daily living assistance, and support coordination. Both can be used to complement each other, depending on your eligibility for the NDIS.

What if I need help managing my NDIS plan?

If you need assistance with managing your NDIS plan, our Support Coordination service can help. Support coordinators assist you in understanding your NDIS plan, ensuring you are using your funding effectively, and connecting you with the right services. They guide you through the entire process to make sure you are receiving the supports you need.

Can Heroes Assist help me with applying for DVA benefits or accessing additional services?

While Heroes Assist primarily focuses on NDIS support, we can guide you through the process of applying for DVA benefits and accessing additional veteran-specific services. We can help you understand your entitlements and connect you to support options that complement your needs, including housing assistance and mental health support.

How do I find out if I’m eligible for both DVA and NDIS services?

Eligibility for DVA and NDIS services depends on your specific impairment/disability and health needs. The NDIS is available to individuals with permanent and significant disabilities, regardless of whether the disability is service related. If you have both a service related injury and a permanent disability, you may be eligible for supports under both systems. You can check your eligibility by reviewing the NDIS criteria or by speaking with us directly.
